August 2023-reelin’ good times!

Kettle Falls

Trophies, Trophies, Trophies! August came in with warm weather and plenty of fish for everyone to catch! First time at Halley’s, father & son duo, Doug and Matt, each caught some great fish and brought home many new memories!

Ron and his son found the hot spots for bass! Ron caught a 21.5” smallmouth bass and between him and Chris, they caught 7 trophies! Chris caught a pike that was 42.5”-what a river monster!!

Another couple big fish to write home about is Cecil’s 30” walleye and the gigantour of the year, Doc’s 32” walleye! Those are some WHOPPER fish!

Joe and his son Brian back at Kettle Falls mid- August. This year they included Samantha. Samantha was able to come on her first Halley’s Fishing Trip adventure making it a 3-generation family trip. Samantha earned her first trophy hat by registering her 18″ smallmouth bass and 28.5″ walleye. Joe had the biggest catch with his 42″ northern pike! Let’s not forget about Brian with his Trophy Walleye at 27”, although Brian never caught the biggest he was able to catch memories that will have them telling fishing stories for years to come!

Ever wonder how we get minnows when the planes aren’t delivering minnows? We use 2 boats with a huge net between and slowly pull the net in. We cannot do this in the daytime unless we are more in the current so we usually do this in the evening.

Caribou Falls Landing

Guests at the Landing this month couldn’t believe the fishing. We had the pleasure of hosting a couple of parties that this was their 2nd trip of the year! John and the Marty boys-so much fun seeing them again!  Ken and Lois brought their family again and they hooked lots of fish including two 27” walleyes-what a fun day fishing! The big northern still bite in August and fattening up for the winter. Irvin caught this 39” northern while a couple of lengthy ones were Owen’s 42” and Scott’s 43”-those are some strong feisty fish! Dennis hooked into some large smallmouth bass! Check out his pictures!! We LOVE seeing fish pictures-keep sending them our way!!

One Man Lake

What a beautiful month of weather at One Man! We had Brian and his family join us again at One Man. They were able to go out and find lots of fish and hangout as a family away from the hustle and bustle. The family had fun and it sounds like they had a wonderful trip all together.

Mike brought up his close friends to fish One Man for a few days. They fished the river around One Man and they caught piles of fish! Their fishing crew wanted to try a fly out for musky fishing. The fishing was insane!!! Look at their picture as the pictures tell their fishing tales of the day!

Wayne brought up his grandson to be able to fish One Man before the school year started. They had wonderful weather, tasty shore lunches, and truly embraced the time that they had in the boat together. We find here at Halley’s Camps that with many people and hearing everyone’s fishing stories whether its family, friends or business, after a few days in a boat together you can really catch up and get to know someone better than before your trip. Basically, no cell service, wi-fi and creating that conversation and forming memories that last forever.

Outposts-Fishin’, relaxin’, enjoyin’ this month at the outposts!

We had lots of fishermen reporting back that the fishing was fantastic.

Rex Lake had one of the BIGGEST bass of the year! 22.5”!! That was a football-congrats to Kurt! Long time guest, John, comes fishing at Moosehorn Lake and comes 2 times a year! John knows all the hotspots on Moosehorn!

Moosehorn got a new roof this month. We flew all the supplies and equipment in by float plane and Louis and Sam got the job done!
