Dufault’s Island Outpost

If you’re dreaming of a fly-in fishing adventure in Northwestern Ontario without actually flying, our outpost on Dufault’s Island is your perfect destination. Start by driving to our lodge at Caribou Falls Landing. From there, we’ll transport you by boat across five miles to the north side of Umfreville Lake on the English River, where Dufault Island awaits.

Our newly built cabin, will be completed in winter of 2024/2025 wih NEW pictures coming soon! Dufault’s is nestled at the southeastern tip of the island, offering stunning sunrise and sunset views. With only one cabin on the island, you’ll have the entire space to yourself—no noisy neighbors, just tranquil fishing and pristine wilderness.

The fishing is exceptional, with endless opportunities to catch walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass right close to the island. You won’t need to venture far; the surrounding waters, dotted with islands and rich with structure, are full of fish from May to September. For those keen on exploration, there are plenty of nearby lakes and waterways to discover by boat minutes away.

Come experience the serenity and abundance of Dufault’s Island—your secluded fishing paradise!

The Cabin

Since purchasing this historic cabin in 2017, we’ve rebuilt this outpost as a top-tier retreat under our Halley’s Camps banner. After upgrading the cabin this has a big new kitchen, flushing toilets, solar power with generator backup (great for CPAP machines), and other modern amenities. It’s now the perfect outpost that offers not only comfort but an unbeatable fishing experience.

We also provide clean drinking water and ice throughout your stay for your convenience.

Inside, you’ll find a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a 10’ dining table, two refrigerators, and a propane kitchen stove. The screened-in deck features amazing views of the English River. We also have a propane fish cooker and BBQ for your grilling pleasure. The cabin also includes 2 bathrooms with indoor shower and FLUSHING toilets. We provide the ice and 5-gallon jugs of drinking water. Bring your food, sleeping bags, pillowcase, personal and kitchen towels, fishing gear-rods, reels and tackle, and we pretty much have the rest ready for you!
