June 2025-Back in the saddle again!

The fires were finally put under control from the rain that we had and lots of work being had by the Ministry of Natural Resources Forestry. We received word on June 8th that we are able to be open at ALL of our locations!! WONDERFUL!!

Caribou Falls Landing

We missed seeing the first 2.5 weeks of June customers due to the fire/fires. The day that we were able to open-which was the day that we were able to drive up the road without roadblocks we were all hard at work trying to get everything open as it was in the state of how we left it in October last year for close up.

1-Finish the cement pad to get the big gas tanks in place

2-Get the water going (this was put on the list multiple times) to all cabins

3-Get the fridges and freezers cleaned out after no power for 3 weeks!

4-Figure out food and ordering

5-Staff accommodations and getting staff here from Kettle Falls

6-Getting cabins cleaned, bbqs prepped, decks swept, boats ready for rentals

7-Get the yard cut-which took multiple cuts due to the length of grass! We should have bought some cows and goats!

EH! We got guests!!! SO excited to see them!! Don and his crew showed up on June 18th and it was such a delight to see them all!

Back in the saddle again!

Loved seeing all the boats and vehicles arrive on the weekend. Minnows, groceries, ice, tackle, sweatshirts, and much more were ready for purchase for our customers in the lodge!

Without much fishing pressure on the river, WOWza the fishing was dynamite!! The fishing stories were insane! SO happy to hear everyone rave about how thrilled they were to be back in their happy spot at Halley’s, fishing their best (or luck depending on the fishermen-LOL), and seeing them all gather on the cabin decks relaxing. Almost brought tears to my eyes to watch the fishermen that weekend all head out for a day’s fish.

Big fish:

Outposts

Lots of fun at our outposts this month! The solitude of the north and listening to the loons and catching fish! Soooo much excitement to be had. One of our groups, had a bunch of kids and they loved their fishing adventure! Look at their smiles!!

We had a new family stay at Rex Lake and they had an awesome time! Fishing on the lake with the only cabin, some thrilling bass fishing and great weather!!

Moosehorn Lake bass saw lots of Mepps and top water baits this month! We had guests casting & trolling for the fighting fierce smallmouth bass at Moosehorn! Tim and his fishing buddy were adventurous to a portage lake and went after the lake trout and got some! Great memories had this month!

One Man

It was a good start at One Man with lots of returning staff! Junior and Janice are notorious for being at One Man and this year, Lili, our Australian gal, has been a great addition to our team at One Man. Alec, as also joined the team as a great guide and helper around the camp. The guests have enjoyed the fishing, the SHORE lunches, accommodations and the food-where the cookie jar is never empty!

Bruce and his fishing gang joined us at One Man-this is starting to be an every other year fishing retreat! They have fished with us during many different months and I think that they found their favorite week this year as they said the weather was great and the fishing was fantastic! Many of the guys were happy to see Merigold-one of them I think is ready to have a framed picture of our cat on the wall!

We had Elissa and her family at One Man and they had some smallmouth fishing that was incredible-they caught over 300! They had numerous trophies-29 to be exact!!

Kettle Falls

Our month was filled with many returning customers that have been very memorable to us Halleys! It was wonderful to meet our new customers as well. We have had groups this year that we have been coming for over 40 years at Halley’s Camps whom are like family. Our staff there is, including Lisa, our manager, is amazing. Our new and returning staff are very pleasant and are assisting fishermen at having a great fishing trip at Kettle Falls.

Times are always changing and we have updated the sign on the lodge, the color on peaks of the cabins, buildings and lodge at Kettle Falls. We stained most of the lodge and we are going to be doing the rest of the 2 sides in August along with 2 cabins. The front of the lodge at Kettle updated as well-it’s not completely done but it’s getting there!! We will make sure that we post pictures in the newsletters to come of the finished project!!

Guests at Kettle Falls have had such great fishing! Check out these pictures!!

We love to see our fisherman’s photos!! If you have any that you would like to share of your 2025 fishing trip, please email them to [email protected] and if you can let us know which location you stayed at and any fun fish stories!
