January 2007

Welcome to the January 2007 newsletter. We would like to send a heartfelt wish to all for a happy, healthy, and safe new year. All is well in Halley Country. We had a lovely December, and enjoyed the near perfect weather conditions that the holiday season brought with it.

We also managed to get out and do a little ice fishing north of One Man Lake Lodge. We met at Caribou Falls Landing and took the machines on a great ride across Umfreville, through One Man, and off to one of the Outpost Lakes. A fabulous day, but the photo lady forgot to take some ice fishing photos! Actually, I was too busy relaxing by the fire and catching walleyes to be taking photos - but I did manage to snap the following picture of George, getting the wood for our fire shortly after our arrival to our fishing lake. By the way, I had already caught two walleyes through the ice by this time!

Whitetail Deer in Winter
This photo of the whitetail deer was actually taken in my own back yard.

We said a final camp farewell to Ron with a casual retirement party during the Christmas season. It was nice to spend a little quality time with Ron, as he truly has become a part of the family during his some 20 odd years with Halley's Camps. Big shoes to fill! Congratulations Ron - you will be missed!
