Salvesen Lake is a beautiful 7-mile long lake that lends itself to the fancy of every fisherman. Located on the Sturgeon River system, which in turn connects to the famous English River, Salvesen has the perfect recipe for a healthy fish population. This connecting river system provides for excellent spawning grounds as well as a healthy baitfish population. In addition, this body of water hosts a variety of fishing opportunities.
Significant underwater reefs and rock points, weedy bays, islands, rubble shorelines, sandy shorelines and vibrant rapids all provide the angler with limitless opportunities. This combination is only enhanced by the fact that Salvesen allows continuous fishing in virtually all wind conditions. Long and narrow with majestic high bluffs, Salvesen can be fished when you dictate it... not the weather!
In a typical day, it is not uncommon for anglers to catch over 100 fish per boat. Walleyes in the 2 lbs range are the norm with 8 to 10 lbs walleye caught and released each year. Northern pike up to 20 lbs also raise havoc with your tackle box. Anglers wishing for a variety have walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass to choose from.
